How Does Invisalign® Work?

The Invisalign® system is comprised of custom aligner trays that are made of smooth and inconspicuous plastic. Worn daily, the trays will slowly shift your teeth and create a magnificent new smile based on our strategic plan created just for you.

What to Expect During Treatment

Your Invisalign® treatment starts during your very first visit with us at our dental office. We will first see if Invisalign® is a viable option for you by closely examining your mouth, teeth and gums.

Once it is determined that Invisalign® is the right choice for you, we will take x-rays, photos, and impressions of your teeth to create your customized treatment plan. This includes exact movements of your teeth during every stage of treatment. Your custom-made trays will be created just for you. Anticipate the aligners to be incredibly comfortable as they will not irritate your teeth or gums, which usually occurs with traditional metal braces. You will wear your aligner strays for a minimum of 20 hours every day and will only remove them to eat meals and brush your teeth.

During this process, the aligners will slowly and gently shift your teeth into their prime position. You will wear a new set of aligners every two weeks which will progress you through our treatment plan and place you one step closer to your radiant new smile. You will have routine visits with us during your treatment so we can evaluate your progress to ensure an optimal outcome.

Can Invisalign® Correct My Dental Issues?

We are able to correct a wide array of dental issues using Invisalign®. These issues can be mild or complex and include:

• Excess Spacing - Excess spacing occurs when there is too much space in between the teeth, causing a gap
• Overbite - An overbite, also known as "buck teeth," happens when the upper teeth are too far in front of the lower teeth.
• Underbite - An underbite is caused by the lower jaw protruding beyond the upper jaw, causing the front lower teeth to overlap the front top teeth.
• Open Bite - The open bite occurs when some of the top and bottom teeth don't fully meet when biting.
• Crowding Issues - When there isn't enough space for the teeth to properly fit within your mouth, crowding occurs. Some signs of crowding are teeth that are twisted and displaced.
• Crossbite - The crossbite develops when the upper and lower jaws are not aligned correctly causing some of the upper teeth to touch the inside of the lower teeth.
