Cosmetic Periodontal Surgery

Have you struggled with teeth that appear noticeably short, unusually sensitive or have exposed root surfaces? If so, cosmetic periodontal surgery may provide a way to improve your smile and put an end to your oral issues. If you're interested in how to improve your smile with this safe cosmetic procedure, then visit Dentalville Panorama City in Los Angeles for an appointment!

Short Teeth

While your teeth may appear unsightly and short, it's likely that you have average sized teeth. The problem isn't that your teeth are remarkably short, but that your gums are too low and are covering up a significant portion of your teeth. In this situation, we could perform a procedure known as crown lengthening to show off more of pearly whites and stop your gums from covering up your natural teeth.

How does this procedure work? Our staff will carefully reshape your excess gums around your bone tissue. This procedure can be performed on a single tooth or used more widely to give the appearance of straight, even gums.

Tooth Roots

If you're suffering from exposed tooth roots, then you know what a nuisance sensitive teeth can be. Not only does this condition make it painful to do simple tasks like eat and brush your teeth, but it's often unsightly and blemishes an otherwise beautiful smile. That's why we offer soft tissue grafts, which will cover your exposed tooth roots, relieve your chronic sensitivity and stop gums from receding further and contributing to tooth decay.

By removing soft tissue from another area, most likely the roof of your mouth, and placing it seamlessly over your exposed tooth roots, we will remove any discomfort or anxiety you've been experiencing from a lack of protective soft tissue.

Tooth Loss

In some situations, losing a tooth can have a negative impact on the rest of your mouth. Your jaw may begin to pull back and create a jarring indentation on your face at the location of the missing tooth, and many patients have reported that this indentation causes them to look older. As a side effect, your jaw will be too weak to support a dental implant to replace your missing tooth. While this is a serious issue and may not be completely reversible, our staff is experienced with these severe face depressions and can minimize their unsightly appearance via bone grafting.

Bone grafting may not entirely fix your aesthetic issue, but it does vastly improve the situation and stops the indentation from growing. Once this procedure has been completed, the integrity of your jaw will be restored and you'll be a viable candidate for one of our dental implants to replace your missing tooth.

Repair Your Smile

All of the above solutions are periodontal cosmetic procedures that our staff provide to help restore and perfect your smile. If you've been dealing with any of the above serious oral health issues, contact our office to set up a consultation and see how we can help.

“I was sure I just needed a filling, but when I saw that my filling had almost completely fallen away with the wand that showed my smile on the monitor, it was obvious I would need a crown or face losing the whole tooth. I was able to get a special price on the crown which made things easier for me personally. I am glad for the help and thank Dentalville for working with me and providing great service and care. Will be back”
